Explore the archaeological park of Herculaneum
Herculaneum was an ancient city buried under the volcanic ash of the Mount Vesuvius eruption in 79 AD.
As the nearby Pompeii, destroyed by the same volcanic burst, it is an archaeological site where you will be able to see the excavations and the remains, still preserved, of its buildings and decorations.
Your professional guide will walk you through the streets of this UNESCO World Heritage area so you will be able to see nearly intact houses, baths, stores, public and religious buildings and even the skeletons of the people that were trying to escape and save their lives.
Enjoy the beautiful and still colorful frescoes and mosaics that decorate the original villas, such as the ones of the House of the Mosaic Atrium, the House of Neptune and Amphitrite and the House of the Deer.
Stop at the Decumanus, the Palestra, the Basilica and the Thermal Baths of the Forum and learn about the stories and habits of the Roman people who lived there or who visited it as a seaside retreat.
Last, but not least, you will have the opportunity to soak up the beautiful landscapes of the Gulf of Naples and the Vesuvius volcano itself.
