Tour Description

The Barberini Palace is more than an Art Gallery. It was erected in the 1625 as a family residence for Maffeo Barberini, the future pope Urban VIII. Competing with the most prestigious noble dynasties of Rome, the Pope commissioned architects Maderno, Bernini and Borromini to build this sumptuous palace. The painting decoration of the interior was executed by the best artists of the Baroque including Pietro da Cortona that adorned the main hall with one of Rome’s most impressive frescoes.

Skip the long lines with your fast-access tickets and head straight inside the gallery. Your professional private guide will take you through the numerous rooms of the palace that house an incredible collection of Italian artworks. You will see masterpieces by Guido Reni, Caravaggio, Andrea Sacchi, Raphael and many more and have enough time to delve into the stories behind these artworks.

Discover the palace’s unique architectural design as you walk the square-shafted staircase, designed by Bernini and the oval helicoidal staircase by Francesco Borromini. Your guide will share interesting details and little-known facts about the Palace, its artworks and its famous inhabitants.
