Discover one of the most beautiful neighborhoods of Milan and its famous Art Gallery
Discover the bohemian side of Milan in the beautiful district of Brera and the famous Art Gallery, the “Pinacoteca”, with this exclusive guided tour.
Brera is known for being the neighborhood of the artists and, thanks to our guided tour, you will feel the unique bohemian atmosphere as you walk through its suggestive street, browsing its small boutiques and its artisans’ shops.
The main feature of the tour is the Pinacoteca di Brera, the Art Gallery of Brera, in Palazzo Brera, a construction built on the remains of a 14th century monastery and turned into a cultural institute location by Empress Maria Theresa of Austria. The Pinacoteca opened in 1809 and its collection includes masterpieces from the 13th to the 20th Century.
You will explore the Gallery with our art expert and see Italian artists' finest works, including paintings by Raffaello, Caravaggio, Modigliani and drawings by Leonardo da Vinci. The collection of the Art Gallery includes also international masterpieces, including paintings by Rubens and Picasso. The last room of the gallery is almost entirely dedicated to Francisco Hayez. There you can have a close look at “The Kiss” and fall in love with it.
If there is good weather you will be able to visit the Botanical Garden of Brera, located in the Palazzo. It was created by Empress Maria Theresa of Austria in 1774. In this beautiful garden visitors can find many kinds of ancient plants and a 40-meter lime tree.
