You will see the Rosetta Stone, which was discovered by a French captain named Pierre Bouchard in 1799, and which gives us many details of three thousand years of Ancient Egyptian history. Then there is the colossal pink/gray granite monumental statue of Ramses II and a number of Egyptian mummies, including the five-thousand-year-old “Ginger”.
In the Greek section you will admire the breathtaking Elgin Marbles, the Athens Parthenon Sculptures, which have been on permanent public display in the British Museum since 1817, the Eneid Monument and the Discus Thrower, a Greek sculpture depicting a youthful ancient Greek athlete throwing a discus.
