Visit the most beautiful squares and monuments of Turin with a top-rated local guide
Join us on this small group walking tour of the highlights of Turin, exploring the main sights, whilst listening to historical anecdotes from your guide.
The tour begins in Piazza C.L.N. where your guide will meet you, before leading you into the "living room of the city", Piazza San Carlo, the biggest and most significant square in Turin. The square is encompassed by dozens of cafes, where writers, politicians and artists once met to socialize.
You will then head to the old district of the Roman Quadrilateral, where the ancient Porta Palatina is situated. This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the best-preserved Roman gate in the world. You will pass through the gate into Europe’s largest open-air market, the Porta Palazzo, where you can wander among the vendors, marveling at the produce on offer, including many local delicacies. It will be too much for you to resist tasting a few of them!
Next, you’ll head to the John the Baptist Basilica - Turin’s cathedral - and also to the beautiful Piazza Castello, dominated by the presence of both the Royal Palace and Palazzo Madama. The latter was home to the first Senate of unified Italy, while the parliament was in Palazzo Carignano, now the location of the Museum of the Risorgimento.
Stroll along Via Po with its expansive arcades, and stop in front of the Mole Antonelliana, which houses the National Museum of Cinema, before continuing along the path to the river Po, where the tour ends with a stunning view of the hills which surround Turin.
After the tour, your guide will be happy to provide suggestions on what to see and do for the remainder of your stay, including the best places to eat.
