Explore one of the world’s finest collections of Ancient art
The National archaeological museum of Naples showcases one of the word’s most precious collections of Greek-Roman artworks.
The museum was founded in the 18th century by Charles VII, king of Naples, to preserve the treasures inherited from his ancestors and the ancient artifacts discovered during the excavations of the cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum.
On this history-focused tour you will see the famous sculptures such as Farnese Bull and Atlas, view colorful mosaics, including the battle between Darius and Alexander, and discover the original 2000 years frescoes detached from the houses in Pompeii, Stabia and other excavated ancient sites buried by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 AD.
The collection is huge and includes different types of artifacts. We organize classic tours of the museum highlights as well as more specific itineraries focused on a particular subject of your interest. A private guide will ensure you a personalized and engaging experience where you will have enough time and space for your questions and doubts.
We suggest to combine your visit to the museum with the exploration of the ruins of Pompeii or Herculaneum in order to comprehensively understand art, life and society of Ancient Romans.
